Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship

By providing internationally competitive funding for top-tier Canadian and international postdoctoral researchers, the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships build world-class research capacity. Banting fellowships are worth $70,000 yearly (taxable) for two years, and just 70 new fellowships are awarded annually.Â
The fellowships are equally distributed among ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø’s three federal granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.Â
Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for a Banting Fellowship. They must also have completed all Ph.D. or professional degree requirements before beginning their fellowship.Â
For two years, successful applicants will receive $20,000 for research expenses. Fellowships are available in any eligible institution in ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.
KILLAM Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
Founded in memory of Izaak Walton Killam through the Will of his spouse, Dorothy Johnston Killam, and through donations made during her lifetime, the Killam Scholarship aims to support advanced education and research at five Canadian universities and the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Council for the Arts.Â
It was Mrs. Killam’s wish that those selected for UBC Killam Postdoctoral Research Fellowships: “Be inclined to encourage the development of learning or gain distinction in the industry.” The UBC Killam Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are given out annually by the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies.Â
KILLAM Postdoctoral Research Fellowships provide recipients with $50,000 stipends for a maximum of two years and $4,000 travel research allowances. The Killam Postdoctoral Research Fellowships program is intended to bring outstanding scholars to UBC. This way, they may conduct innovative research that enhances interdisciplinary collaboration and helps them establish themselves as leaders in academia and the wider community through the original spirit of the Killam Endowments.

Postdoctoral fellows can complete Mitacs Elevate within two years and lead industrially relevant research projects across a wide range of disciplines. Successful applicants will receive a stipend of at least $55,000, with an award valued at $60,000 per year.Â
As part of the program’s training curriculum, Fellows receive experiential training in R&D directly through their industry-academic research collaborations and leadership training. Agricultural and food, artificial intelligence, biomanufacturing, clean technology, entertainment and media, quantum science, and social innovation are among the key priority sectors for the award.Â

Carleton University Postdoctoral Fellowship in Critical Public History and Museology
Through the practices at the Canadian Museum of Nature and its predecessors – the Geological Survey of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, the National Museum of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, and the National Museum of Natural Sciences – this fellowship examines the historical, institutional, and systematic othering of knowledge, people, and places.Â
Moreover, the fellow’s work will contribute to the ongoing development of a framework for more responsible and ethical scientific and collection practices at the Canadian Museum of Nature. An annual salary of $45,000 will be paid to the postdoctoral fellow, including health and dental benefits, for two years, and a minimum of $5,000 will be provided annually to the fellow to purchase equipment, travel for research, and attend scholarly and professional meetings.Â
As part of established institutional partnerships and memoranda of understanding, the results of this research will also be provided to communities and partner organizations in the North.Â
In addition to archival research and oral history interviews, the postdoctoral fellow may also spend time in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories if time and resources allow.

As part of the PDF program, high-quality Canadian researchers with leading-edge research skills are also available to industry, government, and academic institutions. These fellowships are valued at $45,000 per year for 24 months. In discipline-based selection committees, scientists and engineers from academia, industry, and government review and score scholarship and fellowship applications according to NSERC policies and guidelines.Â
The selection committees are organized according to the following broad discipline categories: cellular and molecular biology, chemical and biomedical science engineering, chemistry, civil and industrial engineering, computing sciences, electrical engineering, evolution, and ecology.
